The final game of the season was the local derby between the Den and Bitton Park, which Bitton Park won to take back The President's Trophy.

Although the Den Ladies had to withdraw from the SDLB, the clubs involved all agreed to play a friendly match, with just 2 triples. The rain washed out the first two matches, but the Ladies were at last able to play a game against Paignton-Torbay, which they unfortunately lost. The Den played against The Patrons, and won by 135 shots to 87. P Babbage, M Tose and P Painter won 23-15, S Thomson, T Butt and J Staden won 26-13, M Everard, L Dedman and P Nicholson won 22-17, C Pocock, M Flinn and J Flinn won 33-10, D Beecham, M Palmer and P Campbell won 18-10, and L Previati, E Tose and J White lost 13-22.
On Sunday the club held an Open Day, inviting members of the public to try their hand at bowling. There was a good turn out of people, and a number showed an interest in joining the Club.

The Den travelled to Totnes, where they lost overall by 79 shots to 120. P Babbage, M Flinn and J Flinn lost 12-17, B Cooke, B Beecham and P Nicholson lost 5-27, M White, M Wiltshire and C Mitchell lost 4-37, M Palmer, F Simpson and J White won 20-11, D Beecham, B Bray and B Hayles won 22-17, and S Ashford, L Davies and P Campbell lost 16-17. Everyone enjoyed a very nice tea laid on by Totnes.
The Den hosted Abbrook Park, but lost the match 49-90. S Ashford, S Thomson, B Bray and M Allcorn lost 15-23, P Babbage, M Palmer, L Dedman and P Campbell lost 15-25, D Beecham, F Simpson, L Previati and P Painter lost 7-22, and E Hayles, M Everard, R Cook and J White lost 12-20.

This week saw the first of the Over 55s matches. The X team played Abbrook Park away and made a good start to the season, winning overall by 47 shots to 32. M Flinn, B Hayles and G Yarham lost to R Blaber, L Woodbridge and P Rea 14-15, while J White, P Nicholson and M Allcorn beat J Hopkins, B Lawrence and L Wheeler 33-17. 6 points to The Den, 2 points to Abbrook Park.
The Y team also played Abbrook Park, playing at home, but lost overall by 19 shots to 42. D Beecham, M Palmer and P Painter lost to B Brompton, G Clark and M Busby 8-22, and P Babbage, V Henshard and C Pocock lost to R Atkins, D Wyatt and T Archer 11-20. 8 points to Abbrook Park.

The new season opened at The Den on Saturday 15th April, the first bowl being put up by Councillor June Green, Chairman of the Finance and General Purposes Committee. Councillor Green was delighted that her bowl was a ‘toucher’!
The Club President, Mrs. Yvonne Greenwood, welcomed Councillor Green, along with Councillor and Mrs. Phipps, and Councillors Roy and Julie Phillips, Sylvia Russell and Vince Fusco. The members played ten ends, before enjoying a welcome cup of tea, and sandwiches and cakes. £126 was raised for the President’s charity, the Ricky Grant Unit at Torbay Hospital.
The Club members now look forward to a successful season after our Open Days on 23rd -29th and 39th April
