Following the latest government advice regarding closure of clubs, and earlier guidelines on social distancing and self-isolation, events have somewhat overtaken the planned South Devon Over 55 Triples season.

A decision has therefore been taken, reluctantly, to cancel this year’s competition. Clearly the welfare of the bowls community comes before the game and we must all adhere to the advice which has been issued.

Current information suggests that most clubs would not be able to function normally until at least July and probably beyond. Hopefully toward the end of the season we may salvage some game time and if this is the case, may I suggest that the remaining scheduled games be played out as friendlies if, the clubs involved are in agreement to play, and have the players who are willing and able to play. This is of course some way off and merely a suggestion on how we might proceed. Should things change in the meantime and we are able to get on the green earlier than currently expected than we might review the situation. Ultimately, as clubs, you will make final decisions which are in the best interests of your club and its members.

Please stay safe, do not take unnecessary risks.
